Tech Tech Tech Boom …

I guess you could say this Hives song fits the bill of The Evening Standard’s recent article both phonetically and metaphorically. The article outlines the recent boom in the tech industry and the scope it is giving oversees companies; with the big smoke seeing a record number of foreign firms (270) starting, setting up and expanding over here in the last year.

That time of the year again: The FA Cup Semi-Final weekend!

Passion, hysteria, triumph and tribulation; it’s none other than FA CUP Semi-Final Weekend!

Four teams will battle it out on the hallow Wembley turf to write themselves into the English history books; an FA Cup Final. With ninety thousand screaming fans watching and millions around the world – there is not a better stage to make yourself a hero.

Three of the four teams are established Premier League teams, all glittered with FA Cup history. Arsenal – 11 time winners and Liverpool and Aston Villa both 7 time winners.The underdogs, Reading are lie 18^th and are struggling in the Championship but the magic of the FA Cup is where such things (upsets) happen!

Reading are looking to spoil the party against Arsenal, who are the clear favourites on Saturday. The all-Premier League tie between two young British managers, Sherwood and Rodgers sets up the second semi-final as a tasty one, all with a dream to get to the Final; it could be anyone’s on their day to bring the trophy home!

Expect tears, laughter, and drama. A last minute goal, or a conspicuous hand-ball that wasn’t given. A place in the final is on a knife-edge. Don’t miss out!

Millions of bus users are set to face a day of bedlam tomorrow and there is a possibility it could even continue into the early hours of Wednesday morning, reports TFL.

It has been said that 27,000 workers from the 18 bus operators that run the routes in the capital are set to go on strike tomorrow over a pay disparity.

Over 200 routes are said to be affected (patchy!)

Normally, a seamless commute, day of shopping, dinner or drinks in the big smoke, is set to turn into a day of uncertainty and terror not to mention the waiting and mulling around in the underground – it’s simply not worth complaining or moaning about…

Our Global Head of Marketing, Igal Aciman, took the stage as one of guest speakers at Nimbus Ninety’s annual IGNITE conference at The Worx, London.

Proposal Week

I call this week “Proposal Week.” Non-stop emails and phone calls to companies trying to create new business, something that for a start-up is decisive. That’s my role, finding partners and affiliates to join in with the ParkJockey dream. My passion – meeting new people and brands, negotiating deals and making a difference on a daily basis to build something unique. In an ideal world working for ParkJockey is a no brainer, and in many dreams it is but no dream is like that of a start-up.

I work with some of those most intelligent people (whist it pains me they’ll read this and their heads might get even bigger that it’s true): Yale, Harvard, you name it, ex-management consultants from the likes of A. T. Kearney, McKinsey… You get the picture, genius’ working on parking. Operationally they are a different level, if you can restructure some of the companies these guys have worked for in previous years, then parking will be a breeze, surely? The answer, no. It still takes hard work.

ParkJockey is a start-up, something that every day gives us a challenge, a surprise, a result, a failure and a success. It’s a knock-out Ricky Hatton style every day or a Ryder Cup, Miracle-of-Medina-moment every week. ParkEx 2014 was popping!

Europe’s largest parking exhibition this year was held at Kensington Olympia. ParkJockey as mentioned in the previous blog was located at Stand F34. The weather was perfect, far to hot to be stuck inside, however the exhibition on the whole was a resounding success.

ParkEx state that they ‘believe in the value of meeting face to face.’ As cliché as this may sound they hit the nail perfectly on the head. We were unsure of the attention we would get but with a expertly decorated stand, to catch the eye of the parking world, and the eye catching popcorn machine the conversations were popping off in each corner.

We had the opportunity to meet an array of influential people in the parking industry and lay the foundations for future relationships in order to fuel our rapid growth in the parking world. People were thoroughly impressed with our solution but now the real work starts… See you again in 2015 bigger and better! Check out our video highlights below…

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is underway…

Yesterday marked the start of the inaugural event, The RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

This annual gathering of ‘flower-istas’ parking themselves amongst the beauty of carefully curated gardens; marks a beautiful week weather wise for London – creating a rather fitting ambiance for such a blooming brilliant event!
